The fine print, in plain words
By booking a sitter through Jaco Babysitters Club, you agree to the terms below.
1. Who we are
Jaco Babysitters Club ("we", "us", "the Club") is a referral service that connects families with vetted, independent babysitters in Jaco, Costa Rica and surrounding areas. We are not an employer of sitters; each sitter acts as an independent contractor providing childcare services directly to you.
2. Bookings & availability
Booking requests are subject to sitter availability and confirmation. A request submitted through the site is not a confirmed booking until the sitter accepts it. Dates marked as blocked on a sitter's calendar are not available. We reserve the right to decline or cancel a booking at our discretion.
3. Payment
All bookings are paid directly to your sitter by cash, SINPE, or bank transfer. Jaco Babysitters Club does not process payments online and does not handle funds between you and the sitter. Hourly package rates are fixed; daily and weekly rates are agreed between you and the sitter before the booking begins.
4. Cancellation & no-shows
If you need to cancel, please notify your sitter as early as possible. Cancellations made less than 4 hours before the scheduled start may be subject to a fee at the sitter's discretion. If a sitter must cancel, we will make every effort to offer a replacement from the Club. Repeated no-shows by a sitter may result in their removal from the Club.
5. Your responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate information about your children (ages, allergies, medical needs, and any special instructions) before the booking. You or a designated adult must be reachable by phone during the booking. You are responsible for ensuring a safe environment for the sitter and for any costs agreed with the sitter (such as transportation or activities).
6. Liability
Jaco Babysitters Club screens sitters through interviews and reference checks, but we do not guarantee the conduct of any individual sitter. We are not liable for loss, injury, or damage arising from a sitter's actions or from events during a booking. You engage each sitter at your own discretion. Our liability is limited to the referral service we provide.
7. Reviews & conduct
We encourage honest, respectful reviews after each booking. Reviews are moderated and may be removed if they contain offensive, false, or abusive content. Parents and sitters are expected to treat each other with kindness and respect; abusive behavior may result in removal from the Club.
8. Privacy
We handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy. We use your email and phone number only to coordinate bookings and communicate with you.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be posted on this page with the date below.
